PCCY's New Guide to Behavioral Health Services for Children includes Trauma Treatment Resources

The Public Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY) has published a new guide to behavioral health services for children enrolled in medical assistance and CHIP in Philadelphia.  Titled "Where to Go for Help" the guide includes information on more than 50 behavioral health providers providing services in Philadelphia .  This edition of the PCCY guide also includes specific information about trauma including signs and symptoms of traumatic stress and psychological trauma, an explanation of why trauma-focused treatment may be necessary, tips for finding qualified trauma treatment therapists and a list of Philadelphia agencies who offer Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidence based trauma treatment that is effective for children ages 3-18.  The guide is available in Spanish and there is a companion guide specifically for young children birth to five.  All three versions of the Philadelphia "Where to Go for Help" are available electronically on the PCCY website.  Hard copies of the guide can be obtained by calling PCCY at 215-563-5848.
